vintage french chic ~~ when it rains it pours

Well, mes amies, it looks like I am going to have to take a break for a while.  You may recall the other day I mentioned we were having internet issues.  Those are mostly resolved except every other day I have to unplug the modem and router, replug them back in before my laptop will pick up the WiFi signal in the home.  Then on top of that “bother”, my laptop seems to be either finally dying (6-7yrs old) OR there is a problem with just the monitor (again…this was replaced last year).  So to the computer doctor it will go so I can figure out if it is worth saving or if it is time to bite the bullet and buy a new one…WHICH I REALLY DON’T WANT TO DO especially after reading Juhli’s recent posts on her upgrade.  I really struggle with “liking” technology and in my book it is barely more than a necessary evil.  Between cell phones, computers, internet service, etc, it feels like we are always doling out money for something that is suddenly “outdated”.   I am going on vacation next week anyway so hopefully this can all be resolved while I play in the waves.

I would continue to post via my husband’s computer (which I am using now) but I really don’t like it.  Even WordPress doesn’t work the same on it and I don’t get why that is.  AND I can not upload new photos to his computer because the SD card drive doesn’t work.  I might be able to hook up the external hard drive to get (old)  pictures but I haven’t tried that yet.  None of this even matters because my husband’s work environment stresses me out–I can’t blog here, I really can’t.

Alors, a bientot!  Hopefully I will be back up and running by the middle of August.  Until then I will leave you with a few shots I took on a recent road trip that I want to tell you about later:

  1. Love the photos! And be sure everything is backed up on your computer before vacation – that is what is giving me the biggest problem as I have to pull stuff off the “dead” computer’s hard drive yet. Enjoy vacation!

  2. Oh, I know what you are talking about…and Juhli, too!
I hate it when cell-phone, computer etc do that to me…now my hand-me-down iPhone is slowly giving up. I already have the newer-model hand-me-down waiting here to get started. But: I have all my information on my old-old phone. Now I have to get that on to the new-old phone…yikes! I really don’t like it.
Have a lovely holiday! Keeping my fingers crossed that all will be back to work and running when you get back!
    😀 😀 😀 xo

  3. That top photo makes me want to go there. I love tooling around in the countryside, eating at little diners…. Going to have to ask hubby if we can go for a Sunday drive tomorrow.
Good luck with your computer issues. Will look forward to the story about this place.

  4. Love the pictures, especially the day lily – reminded me of my childhood home in Oklahoma City. I know just what you mean about not liking technology. It does seem formulated to suck money out of your pocket at the same time that it can be so fun as to be addictive. Maybe they should have named the new thingies i-drugs?

  5. Great shots. Did you use a swing-tilt filter on the second to last? I am toying with the idea of getting a much more capable camera but I’m resisting because the image size is huge and will eat up hard disk space at an alarming rate.

  6. Love the first photo! Have a nice trip and forget about technology for a while. If you have to end up buying a new computer, do yourself a favor and buy a Mac. What ever you do, don’t get involved with anything that involves Windows 8.
