french ~~ french press mornings

This is how I love to start my morning every. single. day.  Brett drinks a drip brew and he’s happy.  I have to have mine this way.   I love the flavor that can only come from a dark roast in a french press.  By brewing my coffee in this manner, it is the closest I can come to matching the taste of the fantastic coffee I enjoyed in Paris… but nothing has ever beat the coffee I drank there.

Enjoy your Sunday!

  1. I like the occasional cup of coffee, but for me it’s usually tea in the mornings. I love your mug…you’d laugh your head off if you saw my collection! Let’s just say Minnie Mouse and Bunnykins feature strongly!! How old am I ?????

    • Yes, my inner child MUST have her coffee in the Cinderella mug and her afternoon tea in her Snoopy mug. It’s a simple life, what can I say? If money were no issue, I would go to Disney every year–LOVE it, love it, love it.

      • Heather, I do go every year! I got married in Florida and spent the day in all the Disney Parks. Now every anniversary is spent there! You know I live in an entertainment desert (and I don’t mean Vegas!) so I need all the fun I can get elsewhere.

      • I am jealous. Extremely. I have a couple of cousins and their families that go just about every year too. Even if the money was there to do it, I can guarantee you that Brett would NEVER go every year. He does not see the appeal at all. The last time I was there was in 2008(2 parks) and 2009 (all the parks for a week!).

  2. Nice little post …. hope you don’t use Starbucks coffee … in my book the worst on earth – just a good branding and marking .. nothing else. Love your little cup. Have sent you an email by the way.

    • My husband loves Starbucks…and I have always enjoyed their Verona. But we don’t brew it here…I am able to get some good coffee from a local roaster. Yes, I saw that you emailed me. I am very behind in all computer things due to technical issues I have been having with my computer and a growing disinterest in even being on it (probably due to the issues). I have been reading blogs on my Nook but it is hard to comment that way due to the itty, bitty little keyboard. Will try to get to my emails today! Sorry!!

      • Heather, no rush … so long as I have an answer in the middle of next month. Haven’t got my bag I ordered yet … have been in contact with the seller. Glad you don’t drink Starbuck .. that gives you style. It’s really frustrating when computers don’t work as they should. Hate answering emails and replays from my netbook too, even if the keyboard is very good, the screen is so little. Thanks for coming back too me. Hope I will see you over in Sweden I will show what really coffee is. We are the 3rd biggest coffee consumer in the world, Norway number 1. We know our coffee. *laughter

      • Our best coffee is now owned by Nestle and you can’t get it aboard yet. There is some fantastic coffees in Europe – but I don’t know if they are available in US. One of my favorite is Lavazza coffee, it’s Italian and it’s a world brand.

      • Good choice .. I hope you will like it – if you use the brewer as you had on your photo .. it will come out as cream. *smile
Both French and Italians have a great styles.

    • He got his staples out on Friday. The vet said it all looks/feels good but is a little concerned why Rockefeller isn’t using it more than he is by now. He upped the pain meds so that Rocky would be more inclined to use it. Poor little guy. It has been a long month.

    • I love everything about it too…and I never drank it until I was about 34. First, I loved flavored lattes, then I moved into coffee with cream and sugar. Now I just drink it black. My coffee evolution.

  3. I need my cup of coffee every morning, too! I still don’t have an espresso machine, but for me the old-fashioned drip brew is fine, as I don’t drink it very strong. After collecting hilarious cups over the years and moving house a while ago, I got rid of the most “terrible” ones and we did the grown-up thing 😉 bought our mugs from the TATE gallery in London, every time we went for a visit. I think they don’t sell them anymore, so sooner or later we’ll have a problem…. or will be going back to the very funny ones again 🙂
Keep your inner Cinderella! And your mug, too! Have a very lovely week! 🙂

    • I use Bialetti Moka pot for my espresso coffees–I really like it and it doesn’t take up a bunch of counter space. It’s important to drink from cups that make you smile in the morning!

  4. Hi Heather, I just love this picture. I don’t drink coffee….but I would love to have a coffee maker like the one here! My hubby is a BIG coffee drinker.

Love your princess coffee cup! What a way to start your morning.

    • Thanks, Lisa. This is just a thermal carafe for french press. I like it because it does keep the coffee warmer than the glass ones do. And I do love my Cinderella mug.

  5. I’m afraid I’m a complete wimp when it comes to coffee. I like mine instant, weak and milky with sweetner…in other words not much like coffee at all. When we visit Europe, I switch to tea, because I’m not that fussed about how my tea tastes. Then again we found a nice Polish girl working in a B&B in Malta who didn’t seem to understand that brewing tea needs really hot water! So there are no guarantees. Cute mug.

    • Shelley! I can’t believe you haven’t become a hard core coffee drinker considering all the wonderful places you can go to get the best coffee ever! Do you like lattes? They have a lot of milk in them.

    • You know what? A woman I worked with one time found out how much I liked Cinderella (I seriously don’t remember how or why that it even came up–might have been b/c I went to Disney when I worked with her) and brought this mug in to give to me. I absolutely adore it.
